Christmas cheer for children’s hospital
Independent is getting in the Christmas spirit with their annual fundraising effort. This year, Independent is supporting the Canberra Hospital Foundation by raising money for the Paediatrics Unit at Canberra Hospital.
Narelle Casey, Managing Director of Independent Property Management, said “Christmas is a good time of year to take a minute to reflect and think about how fortunate we are. For families with a child in the paediatric unit, Christmas can be a very hard time. The team at Independent want to help make it a little easier.”
To that end, the Independent crew are holding bake sales, auctions and sausage sizzles. Team members are also encouraged to dig deep and make a contribution of their own.
“A lot of our team are parents, with young families of their own. The cause really resonated with them, and they’ve been enthusiastic about supporting the fundraiser. It’s the fabric of our culture and openly endorsed that we take time out to make a difference for others.”
All funds raised for the Canberra Hospital Foundation will go towards the Paediatrics Unit to provide family-centred, evidenced based, high-quality care for all children and adolescents with acute and chronic healthcare needs.
Paediatrics at Canberra Hospital includes medical and surgical inpatient services, outpatient clinics and day-only medical and surgical care, as well as mental health care for children and adolescents of the ACT and surrounding Southern NSW Area.
“We welcome the support of the community,” says Narelle. “If you see us out and about, stop and say hello and buy a cupcake or a raffle ticket!”
