This is where we came from
Independent Property Group's history, scale and quality of people enable us to deliver a level of service that has earned the trust of Canberra property owners, buyers, investors and tenants for generations.
The company first opened its doors in 1958 as R.O. Wellsmore and underwent several iterations before being rebranded as Independent Property Group in 2000. A long history does not, however, mean legacy thinking. Today, Independent blends more than 65 years of local experience with a modern, forward-thinking approach, continually investing in technology, innovation and customer experience to meet the evolving needs of its clients.

In 2023, Independent entered a new chapter under new ownership, resulting in a more focused, agile and ambitious organisation. The restructure sharpened our vision, strengthened our culture and positioned us for continued growth while building on the legacy that has defined Independent for more than 65 years.
