Hannah Gill Wins ACT Telstra Business Women’s Award

March 13, 2020

Hannah Gill, Managing Director at Independent Property Management, this week won the coveted Telstra Business Women’s Award ACT in the Large and Medium Business category for 2020.

Hannah is a highly regarded professional and advocate for the property industry, dedicating her time and energy into raising the bar in order to provide better experiences for staff and clients. She speaks at conferences across Australia and internationally on topics ranging from rent roll growth, goal setting and leadership to client experience, innovation and property management best practice.

Believing that collaboration is the key to best practice, Hannah facilitates study tours around Australia and New Zealand with her colleague Grace Hooper and Elite Agent. These offer property managers the change to visit other companies, discuss the challenges and solutions businesses face and see innovation and best practice for themselves. “It’s an intimate group and everyone is open and generous with their knowledge. It’s inspiring the gems of wisdom you find and can apply to your business.”

As for her personal goals, she’s focused on the wider issue of housing justice.

“Canberra has some of the highest rents in the country, coupled with some of the lowest vacancy rates. We no longer have a suitable supply of appropriate and affordable rental housing to meet the needs of our diverse and growing community. The fastest growing group of people experiencing homelessness in Australia is older women, which is simply unacceptable. Housing underpins the fabric of our society and is an essential element for an enabled and empowered community. I’m committed to working on solutions to this problem now and into the future.”

Of the win itself, Hannah says she’s grateful. “The journey of entering the award was invaluable and rewarding in itself, so to receive this recognition at the end of it is an honour,” she says. Hannah is also appreciative of the opportunities and pathways provided at Independent and thankful of her supportive team. “I couldn’t do what I do without a great team of people by my side. I am incredibly lucky to work with such an amazing team every day.”

Hannah will go on to represent the ACT at the Telstra National Awards in May.

John Minns, Independent’s Managing Director, has congratulated Hannah on behalf of the entire Independent team.

“Hannah is more than a leader within Independent – she is recognised as an industry leader and innovator across Australia and New Zealand. Her contribution to our group has been instrumental in driving both performance and the evolution of client experience, and her energised team are testament to the difference she makes every day. Congratulations from all of us.”

This isn’t the first time Hannah’s hard work and expertise have been recognised. In her 12 years in the industry, Hannah has been named REIACT Property Manager of the Year twice, REIA Property Manager of the year in 2014, Excellence in Business Development for LPMA in 2014 & 2015, LPMAs Excellence in Leadership in 2018 and REIACTs Operational Leader in 2019.
